Episode 155: Kimberly Stuart

Kimberly Stuart joins me today and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. She is the author of 8 novels, including her most recent book, Heart Land. Her books have been featured in Cosmopolitan, Huff Post and the Chicago Sun-Times. She has a passion to write chemistry-driven, smart romance.

I knew from the initial email she sent me that she would be the kind of person I would enjoy chatting with and the kind of author I would enjoy reading. In this episode, we talk about the loss of the rom com, our favorite rom com stories, the challenges of writing romantic novels and why it’s important to read fiction.

Takeaways From Our Conversation:

  • There’s something about the power of story that connects to us on a very basic human level that we can’t get elsewhere. We hear things differently through story.

Discussion Questions:

  • What are your top 3 romantic stories/movies?

  • What do you love about stories?

  • They talked about how we are often tempted to attach our value to what other’s think. In what ways is that a struggle for you and what helps you to not do that?

  • What story have you read that really helped create empathy in you towards someone?

  • What story has been the most impactful on your story?
